Breast milk does not come out, no need to worry

Don't worry if the milk does not come out immediately after the mother gives birth. Breasts will start to feel tight a few days after giving birth. This is a sign if breast milk (ASI) has been produced. The mother's body will produce breast milk automatically in response to hormones in the bloodstream. During pregnancy, the level of the hormone proclatin will tell the body to increase milk production. However, hormones from the placenta (especially progesterone) will try to stop the body from responding or responding to the hormone prolactin. This is what makes the supply of milk will not come out until the baby is finished and the placental hormone leaves the mother's body. During the first few days after giving birth, the mother's body will produce colostrum, the first breast milk produced by the breast during pregnancy. Colostrum is very good for the baby because it contains immune substances as a baby's body protector against the outside which is full of bacteria and viruses, which are not available in formula milk. Colostrum also has a laxative effect, or as a facilitator, which helps the baby's intestines remove their first stool (meconium) since he was born. The color and texture of this colostrum can vary from mother to childbirth. Some are thick and yellowish, some are runny and pale. Colostrum does not come out so hard that your child can learn to breastfeed properly. Well, three to four days after the colostrum comes out, then the breast will start to feel firmer. This is a sign that colostrum has turned into breast milk and the supply of milk has begun to increase. The milk that comes out also consists of two parts, namely a thin, runny, and can be pale blue foremilk; and hindmilk which is slightly thicker, more creamy, and contains more fat. For mothers who are giving birth for the first time, breast milk will likely come out about three to four days after delivery. However, if the mother has given birth before, breast milk can come out earlier. One way to deal with breastfeeding is not coming out and so that breastmilk can come out smoothly, there are several ways you can practice it:
  • Breastfeeding soon after Little is born (early breastfeeding initiation).
  • During the first few weeks, feed the baby every 2-3 hours. The more frequent breastfeeding sessions are carried out, it will stimulate the body to produce more milk.
  • Make sure your little mouth is properly attached to the breast.
  • Make sure your little one doesn't suckle from just one breast.
  • Avoid smoking and alcoholic drinks.
  • Don't use pacifiers for at least 3-4 weeks after birth.
  • Get enough rest and don't stress.
  • Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration to make milk production decrease.
  • Eat nutritious foods
  • Gently massage the mother's breasts in a forward movement from the chest to the nipple. This can help increase the amount and fat of breast milk.
Breast milk can sometimes go out longer or more than a few days. That is a natural thing and need not worry. However, if you are still worried about breastfeeding not coming out immediately after giving birth, don't hesitate to consult a lactation doctor.
